Frequently asked questions

Useful things to know about my counseling services
What will our first session look like?

During our first session together, I will take you through the client counsellor contract so you are fully informed and comfortable with how I work and what each of our responsibilities are. From here, we will begin to explore what you have come to therapy for.

How long does a session last for?
Each session lasts 50 minutes.
How much does a session cost?
My standard fee is £75 per 50 minutes, for both in-person and online sessions. Depending on the location and travel time, outdoor sessions start at £90 per session.
How long will the therapy go on for?
Every individual is different, as are the challenges they are facing. I work with clients in an open-ended way, allowing you the freedom and choice to progress at a pace you feel safe and comfortable with. I have some clients who see me once a week for 12-20 weeks, whilst others have been with me for over a year. There is no right or wrong answer, it’s whatever works for you.
How regularly will I need to attend therapy?
There is no definitive answer to this question, however, I recommended you attend one session per week for at least 6 weeks to promote consistency and progression. The success of counselling greatly depends on your commitment to the process, your willingness to engage actively and the quality of our therapeutic relationship. Regular reviews of the counselling process enable both you and I to evaluate how your sessions are progressing, to ensure we are on the right course.
Is everything I say confidential?

Everything that is said in our sessions together is treated with confidentiality and respect. The only limits to confidentiality are the following;

  • Risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
  • Abuse to a vulnerable person.
  • Legal issues regarding money laundering, terrorism or drug trafficking.
What if I don’t want to talk about something?

That’s okay. You get to choose what we talk about, how deeply we explore it and at what pace.

What if you cannot fix me?

So far, I have never met anyone who needs fixing. My role is to help you explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, habits and experiences, in order to improve your mental and emotional well-being. I do this by helping you gain insight, perspective and clarity on whatever it is you are struggling with.

Where will our sessions take place?

I offer a variety of locations where our sessions can take place;

  • At therapy rooms in the centre of Manchester.
  • Outdoors in parks and the countryside, including Trafford, Cheshire & the Peak District.
  • Online via zoom.
  • Over the phone.
